Ceramic Braces

If you would prefer your braces to be less prominent, ceramics might be a great option for you. The braces are clear to match the shade of the teeth. Ceramic braces work as good as metallic braces while being esthetically superior. The wires can sometimes be colored too to help make the braces appear invisible. Ceramic braces are a little larger and more brittle than their metal counterparts, however, meaning they may not be a great choice for very young patients. For teens and adults, on the other hand, they deliver excellent results.

Pros

  • Appearance: Ceramic braces are much less noticeable than traditional braces.
  • Complexity: Ceramic braces can handle almost any misalignment problem.

Cons

  • Cost: Ceramic braces are more expensive than traditional braces.
  • Discomfort: Some patients report feeling discomfort when wearing ceramic braces. Occasionally, brackets can break and wires also can break or become too long, poking the patient’s gums or cheek tissue.
